Walt Disney Elementary
If you can dream it, you can do it ~ Walt Disney
During the 2007-08 spring semester we sent home a parent survey asking for input regarding the use of school uniforms. An overwhelming 75% of the respondents said that they would prefer that our school institute a school uniform policy. In response to the community request, Walt Disney Elementary will continue to be a “uniformed elementary.” Taking our cue from area feeder schools, we have developed the following Uniform Policies:
Students will be expected to wear the following:
· Short or long sleeve polo shirts in the solid colors of maroon (not red), navy blue (not royal or light blue), white or black.
· Students may wear black or white plain t-shirts under their polo shirts. Shirts must be tucked in.
· Students in grades 3-6 must wear a belt. Belts for grades pre-k through 2nd are optional.
· Pants, shorts, skirts, skorts, capris, or jumpers in the solid colors of khaki, dark navy blue, or black.
Pants, shorts, skirts, skorts, capris, or jumpers must be properly fitted with the waistbands fitted to the waist. Waistbands may be regular or elastic. Cargo pants or cargo shorts are not allowed.
Belts must be solid colored versions of black, brown, shades of kahki, or white. Belts may be of various fabric and weaves but must be solid colored with no decoration.
Skirt and jumper length must be no shorter than 3” from the floor while kneeling. Shorts and skorts must extend below the fingertips when the child is standing with hands to their sides.
Students may wear the current Walt Disney Elementary School Spirit Shirt at any time, with the khaki or black pants, shorts, capris, skorts, or skirts. Students may wear any previous years spirit shirt on designated spirit days.
Fleece or sweatshirt jackets (without hoods), pullover sweatshirts, or button down “cardigan style” sweaters may be worn in class on cold days if they are solid gray, maroon, navy blue, white or black and properly fitted. No large or baggy jackets or hooded-sweatshirts will be allowed in the classroom.
Any coats or jackets worn to and from school that don’t conform to these guidelines must be kept in the student’s locker during the day.
Shoes must be lace-up, buckle, zip, or Velcro, and have a closed heel or a heel strap. Flip-flops and Heelies® are not allowed.
Socks that have a reveal above the shoe line shall be solid white or solid black in color. Girls may wear knee length solid color stocking or full length leggings that identically match their blouse IF they are wearing a skirt, skort, or jumper.
Accessories, including jewelry, hair bands/clips, and other accessories must be modest and not distract from the learning process. Necklaces must not extend more than three inches below the neckline. Items used to restrain or tie back hair must be solid white or black. Hand/arm accessories shall be modest in nature, not calling undue attention to the student and must comply with anti-gang policies.
These items may be purchased anywhere, as long as they meet the uniform guidelines.
We are pleased to let you know that Disney has formed a partnership with The Assistance League of Tulsa and Operation School Bell. As a result each student will be given two polo style shirts. The first shirt will be distributed during the first week of school. The second shirt will be distributed at the beginning of the second semester.
